Solar Hot Air Heating
Cansolair Inc., a Newfoundland based company, has developed a forced convection solar heating unit called the RA 240 SOLAR MAX. The core of the unit, has 15 vertical columns of recycled pop cans. The cylindrical shape of the pop cans permits the incident angle of the sun to be perpendicular to the surface of the surface for a longer period of time, which translates into greater heat gain. Each fully automatic, thermostatically controlled module can maintain average room temperature in about eight thousand cubic feet of residential or commercial space.
A CSA Approved maintenance free thermostatically controlled fan draws floor level air through a filter at 90 cubic feet per minute. The heated exhaust air enters the room near the ceiling; the high volume air flow destratifies heat in the room causing the room to feel warmer. One or more panels can be placed vertically or horizontally on a wall or roof which faces southeast, south or southwest which has no shade. The panel measures 44 inches wide and 88 inches high.
